VMS Corporate Tower for Enterprise

In the competitive landscape of Indonesian enterprise real estate, a VMS (Video Management System) Corporate Tower is not merely a security tool but a strategic asset that underpins operational efficiency, tenant safety, and asset protection. A modern VMS integrates high-definition IP cameras, network video recorders (NVRs), and advanced analytics to deliver real-time monitoring, forensic search, and intelligent alerts. For a corporate tower in Jakarta's central business district, the technical backbone must support hundreds of cameras across multiple floors, parking levels, and perimeter zones. This requires a robust Enterprise CCTV infrastructure with high-bandwidth Networking from vendors like Cisco for PoE switches and Ruijie for cost-effective access layers. Storage is equally critical, with Synology or QNAP NVRs providing RAID-protected volumes for 30-day retention at 4K resolution. Analytics such as license plate recognition (LPR), people counting, and loitering detection add business intelligence for facility management. A comprehensive Backup & Disaster Recovery plan ensures video data is replicated off-site, meeting compliance for financial tenants. This solution is essential for enterprise-grade security, reducing liability and enhancing tenant experience through integrated access control and visitor management. By partnering with Intilogy, enterprises gain a turnkey VMS deployment with vendor-certified engineers, system integration, and ongoing support.

01

Client Profile & Background

A multinational real estate developer operating a 40-story corporate tower in Jakarta's Sudirman CBD. The building houses 50+ tenants, including banks, law firms, and tech companies, with a daily occupancy of 8,000 people. The facility spans 100,000 sqm with 6 basement parking levels, 4 sky gardens, and a rooftop helipad. Security is managed by a 24/7 command center with 15 operators.

The existing analog CCTV system from 2015 was end-of-life, with DVRs failing and image quality insufficient for forensic analysis. The client needed a future-proof VMS to support IP cameras, integrate with access control, and provide mobile monitoring for security managers.

02

Technical Challenge

The legacy system suffered from 12-hour backup failures due to insufficient storage and no redundancy. Only 30% of cameras were operational at any time, with a mean time between failures (MTBF) of 6 months for DVRs. The network infrastructure was a single flat VLAN, causing broadcast storms and packet loss exceeding 5% during peak hours. Bandwidth was capped at 100 Mbps for the entire security network, insufficient for 200+ IP cameras at 4K resolution.

Additionally, the client required 90-day retention for all cameras to meet insurance and compliance standards, but the existing setup could only store 7 days. The lack of analytics meant security personnel had to manually review 500+ hours of footage daily, with an average response time to incidents of 45 minutes. Integration with the building's access control system (ACS) was non-existent, forcing operators to cross-reference logs manually.

Implemented Solution

Intilogy deployed a Hyperconverged infrastructure using VMware vSAN for the VMS server cluster, ensuring high availability. For cameras, we installed 250 Lenovo ThinkSystem 4K IP cameras with edge storage and 120 HP ProLiant servers running Milestone XProtect VMS. Network upgrades included Cisco Catalyst 9300 switches with 10GbE uplinks and Ruijie RG-S2928G-P PoE switches for cost-effective edge connectivity.

Storage is provided by two Synology RackStation RS3617RPxs with 120TB usable capacity in RAID 6, configured for 90-day retention. Veeam Backup & Replication handles off-site replication to a secondary data center. Analytics from Cyber Security integrated with the VMS for anomaly detection. We also deployed a Firewall from Fortinet to segment the security network and prevent unauthorized access.

Results & ROI

Post-implementation, camera uptime improved to 99.99%, with RPO reduced from 24 hours to 1 hour via Veeam replication. Incident response time dropped from 45 minutes to under 5 minutes due to real-time analytics alerts. Storage capacity now supports 90-day retention at 4K resolution, meeting compliance requirements. The new network reduced packet loss to 0.1% and bandwidth increased to 10 Gbps, eliminating bottlenecks.

Operational savings include a 40% reduction in security personnel overtime due to automated monitoring. Tenant satisfaction scores improved by 25% as a result of faster incident resolution and enhanced safety perception. The ROI was realized within 18 months through reduced insurance premiums (15% lower) and prevention of theft incidents valued at $200,000 annually. The system is now scalable to 500 cameras without major infrastructure changes.
