01
Client Profile & Background
A large-scale manufacturing company in Bekasi with over 10,000 employees required a robust learning management system to deliver compliance and skill development training across multiple shifts. The company operates 24/7 with a complex IT environment comprising 500+ virtual machines on VMware and 200 TB of storage spread across Synology and QNAP NAS devices. The existing training platform was on-premises, running on legacy HP servers, and faced frequent downtime during peak usage hours.
The company's IT team consisted of 15 engineers managing the entire infrastructure, including networking from Cisco and enterprise WiFi from Ruijie. The need for a scalable, high-availability learning platform was critical to support the company's growth and regulatory compliance requirements.
02
Technical Challenge
The existing learning platform experienced 12-hour backup failures due to insufficient storage capacity and outdated backup software, resulting in a recovery point objective (RPO) of 24 hours and a recovery time objective (RTO) of 48 hours. During peak training sessions, the system would crash under the load of 5,000 concurrent users, causing a 30% drop in training completion rates. Additionally, the backup window exceeded 8 hours, impacting production performance.
The company needed to support 10,000 concurrent users with 99.9% uptime, reduce RPO to 1 hour, and ensure compliance with industry regulations. The legacy infrastructure lacked hyperconverged capabilities and had no automated disaster recovery testing, leading to untested recovery plans.
03
Implemented Solution
Intilogy deployed a DISPRZ Learning Rollout on a hyperconverged infrastructure using Lenovo servers and VMware vSAN for high availability. The backup solution was upgraded to Veeam Backup & Replication with Synology NAS as the primary backup target, enabling instant VM recovery and automated backup testing. A hybrid cloud architecture was implemented using Microsoft Azure for offsite replication and long-term retention.
To handle 10,000 concurrent users, the solution included load balancers from Cisco and enterprise WiFi from Ruijie for seamless access. The LMS application was containerized using Docker and orchestrated with Kubernetes, ensuring scalability. Backup and disaster recovery was automated with Veeam, achieving 1-hour RPO and 2-hour RTO.
04
Results & ROI
Post-implementation, the company achieved 99.9% uptime for the learning platform, with RPO reduced from 24 hours to 1 hour and RTO from 48 hours to 2 hours. Backup failures dropped to zero, and the backup window was reduced to 2 hours. Training completion rates increased by 40% due to improved system reliability and performance.
The solution saved the company $500,000 annually in lost productivity and compliance penalties. The IT team now spends 70% less time on backup management, thanks to automated testing and reporting. The server and storage infrastructure from Lenovo and Synology provided a 3:1 data reduction ratio, optimizing storage costs.
